Walt Disney Worlds Flagship Park! Here you find Cinderellas Castle surrounded by the famed lands: Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, and Adventureland among a few others. This is the oldest park in Walt Disney World, but still a standout!
Magic Kingdom is a great park that everyone in the family can enjoy. You will find the classic attractions that you will see duplicates of on the West Coast, and some unique rides as well. Below you will find our favorite rides at this park, and some tips on how to best enjoy this park.
Our Favorite Rides!
Big thunder Mountain Railroad
The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness! While some would say this is a copy of the West Coast Disneyland ride of the same name, this one has some unique elements that make this a must do! This is always our first stop when we hit Magic Kingdom.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
High Ho, High Ho! This ride is a ton of fun even for the not so big thrill seekers. During the day, you will usually find a long line for this, but it is definitely worth it. At the last 3 after hours events we have been to, we have finished the night off with 3 back-to-back rides and haven't regretted it.
The Peoplemover
While it may be a slower ride, it is definitely a classic that we enjoy every visit. Normally this is our midday ride to give our legs a break. We love how much we get to see as we travel all around Tomorrowland.
Bonus Ride!!
Tron Light Cycle Run!
Step into the grid on this INCREDIBLE ride! While Jordyn has not rode this one, Chris had a chance to ride it at Shanghai Disney in 2018. This coaster is intense, but an absolutely standout attraction. You don't need to know the franchise to appreciate this ride, but you will notice some of the unique details if you do.
Tips to Enjoy this Park
While we do love Magic Kingdom, we actually find this park hard to enjoy on a normal day. Being the flagship park, it is often very busy and lines are consistently long. Our BIGGEST Tip to enjoy this park (especially for those with no kids and those that want to hit as many rides as you can), is to book an After Hours ticket for this park. During the Christmas season this is called "Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party". We have been to 3 separate after hours events at Magic Kingdom and it is by far our favorite way to enjoy the park. Why you may ask?
Tickets for After Hours events are roughly the same price as a 1 day ticket.
Admission generally starts between 4 and 6pm, the park will close to day guests around 7pm, and then will remain open until midnight for event guests.
Lines for all rides are generally 10 minutes or less (usually walk on!).
Exceptions to this would be Space Mountain and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
These events come with Free food and Drink!
Christmas events have had free cookies and hot cocoa
Non-Christmas events have had free soda, popcorn and ice cream bars
Special character meet and greets usually happen as well as special fireworks and stage shows!
We normally meet Mickey around 10 pm with ZERO wait!!
These events really are fantastic, and we highly encourage them at Magic Kingdom. We normally ride 2-3x more rides in the 7 hours than we do in a typical 14 hour Disney day. If you can make it work... its the way to go!!
