No, we Promise we're not trying to sell you a time share!!
While it is true, that you can buy time share through Disney (it is called Disney Vacation Club or DVC for short), we are not at all recommending that you do that! Throughout Walt Disney World there are several resorts which have additional buildings and wings dedicated just to DVC members. These rooms range from standard 1 room studios, all the way to 3 bedroom Grand Villas! These rooms are unique as once you move up to a 1 bedroom, they include a full kitchen and washer and dryer. These kinds of amenities are true money savers when you are staying for at least a week.What most don't know however is that some of these rooms can be rented by those who don't own any interest in DVC! This is often called "Renting Points"

If you want to stay at a DVC property you can "rent" points from an owner, and use the room just as they would. But don't worry, you don't need to jump on craigslist to find someone willing to sell off their points.There are many brokers out there (Our favorite is Davids Vacation Club Rentals!! More on them Below), and you work with them to look for availability. Once they find availability they work with their network of owners to sell you the points.But you might be wondering "Why would I want to rent DVC Points?". Its simple... SIGNIFICANT cost savings!We did our first DVC points rental in 2021 when we were vacationing in Hawaii (before we moved!!). We wanted to stay at Aulani, but knew there was no way we could afford it. We found out about DVC points rental, and were able to make the trip happen. But how much savings do you ask?Well at current prices, Oceanview Studios go for $984 per night, and through renting points it would only be $525 per night... thats a $454 per night savings!!If you wanted a 2 bedroom suite which goes for $2,159 per night, you save $857 per night and only pay $1302.While it sounds too good to be true (believe me, we were nervous when we did it the first time!!) it really does work out with no catch.

The process is fairly straight forward:

- Select your primary resort choice and dates of stay.
- Select your room type (You can also select a back up room and resort too if your first choice is unavailable).
- Submit a deposit of $105 (not a fee!).
- Once confirmed they will draft up the rental agreement and you pay the balance remaining for the rental (They apply the $105 fee to the deposit)
The Catch.....Don't worry. Its not really a catch, but it is important to know.
- Once they confirm your room, the $105 is NON-REFUNDABLE. Meaning if you changed your mind and don't want the room anymore they keep the fee.
- Once you book, there is ABSOLUTELY NO CANCELLATIONS FOR ANY REASON. None. So if you book 3 nights and send them $5,000 for a 2 bedroom suite, and have to cancel, you are out the $5,000. No rescheduling. You can purchase travel insurance, however be sure to check the exclusions to make sure time share rental is included as it is treated differently than a hotel.
